SwaddleDesigns converted their baby blanket factory (located in Seattle) in order to produce masks for the public this year. Within days, the company was delivering made in USA masks to families and customers around the country. Designed by a nurse, the SwaddleDesigns version features 2-layers of cotton flannel (A Wake Forest research study concluded that adding a single layer of cotton flannel helps any mask perform better).
SwaddleDesigns masks are fitted to minimize leakage around the nose, on the side of the face, and under the chin. Using the most current research, SwaddleDesigns masks yield superior filtration of aerosolized droplets by using tightly woven 180 thread count cotton fabric. SwaddleDesigns masks are breathable and comfortable and can be worn for long periods of time without discomfort.
CNET included SwaddleDesigns in its roundup of best face masks for kids in 2021. They noted that a child needs a comfortable face mask created with their specific proportions in mind. SwaddleDesigns offers just that with fun two-sided designs featuring bunnies, dogs, foxes, Angry Birds, polka dots, and more. The kid’s masks are reusable, featuring a soft round ear string and tie know that can be adjusted for the best fit. Child sizes fit ages two to preteen.
SwaddleDesigns was founded by Lynette Damir, mom of two, an experienced nurse and artist. Lynette combined two of her passions – helping new parents calm and comfort their baby, and designing attractive, safe, and functional products. Lynette’s family is filled with nurses and teachers and she wanted to help protect communities and essential workers by designing masks that are effective, comfortable, and secure when talking. Once a nurse always a nurse!
