Smart Buddies are a diverse set of characters on programmable scooters that kids, ages 6 and up can code to zoom, spin, race and dance! Kids shouldn’t have to lose out on cherished life experiences and memories like attending summer camp and meeting kids from all over the country. Smart Buddies has created a two week online “Camp-In-A-Box” that gives kids the opportunity to learn, play, socialize and make lifelong new pals. Kids attend daily Zoom classes with counselors and fellow campers!
Featured as a virtual summer camp to keep kids busy while safely social distancing, this is one fun program that will keep children happy while we all work through the COVID-19 crisis.
Included in the box is the camper’s choice of Smart Buddies robots. They can pick from eight spunky characters; Jen, Jodi, Matt, Sebastian, Lee, Maria, Theo and Zara. Kids also get a camp t-shirt, to make them feel like they are physically attached to their online summer of fun. These enthralling figures are operated via the free “SmartBuddies” app, available on iOS Android and Google Chromebook. Kids can then learn to program their new bestie in three ways with remote control, draw path, and block-based coding modes. Start with the basics and grow to do problem-solving techniques that cover fundamental coding concepts such as sequences, loops, events, conditionals, functions, and variables.
Campers attend daily Zoom classes for two weeks with counselors, teachers and fellow campers, meeting for twice-a-day activities, social fun and assignments. Interacting with new personalities and meeting new people from across the country is such a huge part of going away to camp. Smart Buddies is excelling at capturing this experience and making it as similar to the real deal as possible. At the end of camp, kids get certified as a “junior coder,” have now made pen pal buddies for life, and have new skills and knowledge to bring into their classrooms in the fall.
Congrats Smart Buddies!
