Ecoslay makes the handmade products consisting of natural, eco-friendly ingredients that nourish your hair. Aside from offering a line of affordable vegan, no-filler formulas, the brand takes natural hair care a step further educating consumers about the ingredients it uses by explaining their purpose.
Featured as a Black-owned business finding inspiration and sales growth amidst the Black Lives Matter Movement, founder Adria Marshall shares her positive experience. While the Black Lives Matter movement has sparked action amongst policy-makers, business leaders, and the general public alike over the past few weeks, brands like Ecoslay have also seen shoppers voting with their wallets by supporting Black-owned enterprises.
Marshall says that a new wave of support has shown up for Ecoslay both emotionally and financially. “Our company has experienced a noticeable outpouring of love from its white customer base ranging from endless #supportblackbusiness (and the like) tags on Instagram and Facebook, sincere questions on how they can help support the Black community, and an unquestionable increase in sales,” she explains.
Ecoslay’s online and Amazon sales have increased 30 and 20 percent respectively over the past three weeks. The hair care line includes the curl-perfecting Orange Marmalade, which is a best seller, and the innovative Hot Sauce Pre-Poo/Hot Oil Treatment for a healthy scalp.
Marshall began her own natural hair journey and discovered products like these didn’t exist on the market. As an avid gardener and tech enthusiast, she began to educate herself on effective hair ingredients and to her surprise, the more natural they were, the better her hair looked and felt. Marshall founded Ecoslay in 2015 with the hair care line based on homemade products for her own naturally, curly style. Today her products are receiving acclaim around the world.
